Luggage: Luggage to be packed in a soft sports bag or similar (no wheels or hard-sided bags allowed) A small backpack for inside the vehicle is recommended as this is to be stored under your seat when the vehicle is moving. Luggage to weigh no more than 17 kg backpack 5 kg.

ITINERARY

Day 1. Central Coast—Yass (D)

From you home you will be transferred to your touring vehicle to begin your High Country getaway. Travel south to join the Old Hume Highway through Picton and Hilltop to Mittagong for Lunch. We then visit the historic town of Berrima before travelling through Goulburn and Gunning to Yass for overnight.

STAY: Swaggers Motor Inn

Day 2. Yass—Tumbarumba (BLD)

Today we travel to Wee Jasper on the Goodradigbee River, a popular fishing spot near the upper reaches of Burrinjuck Dam and at the foothills of the Brindabella Ranges. Travelling through forest country to the beautiful town of Tumut. Continue past apple orchards in the Batlow area before arriving in Tumbarumba for overnight.

Day 3.Tumbarumba—Corryong (BLD)

A very scenic day today travelling through the picturesque Tooma Valley and small village of Tooma. Crossing into Victoria we stop at the small settlement Tintaldra to take in the breathtaking views of the Murray River. Travel through Towong making our way into Corryong. This afternoon we visit the Man from Snowy River Museum before arriving at our motel.

Day 4. Corryong—Bright (BLD)

Another scenic day travelling through the Alpine National Park. High Country where Brumbies roam through some of the forest areas. The small town of Benambra has been an area for cattle grazing and horse mustering and was on the major stock route to the Gippsland area from the NSW High Country. Omeo is our next town with a great Chinese influence of the gold area. We enjoy lunch in Omeo before we continue on the Great Alpine Road to Dinner Plain Alpine Village then through Mt Hotham into Bright for overnight.

Day 5. Bright—Mansfield (BLD)

Skirting the Great Dividing Range this morning we visit Myrtleford and Moyhu before Travelling along the Kings Valley to the agricultural town of Whitfield. Stop at Powers Lookout which will give us great views over the Kings Valley. We then make our way into Mansfield at the foothills of the Victorian Alps. If time permits, we will travel to Craig’s Hut, of the Man from Snowy River fame. If not, this afternoon we will visit tomorrow.

STAY: Mansfield Motel.

Day 6. Mansfield—Benalla (BD)

We will visit parts of Lake Eildon which has been constructed on the Goulburn River to assist the farmers on the Northern Plains of Victoria. We enjoy lunch today in the historic railway town of Seymour. This afternoon we make our way to Benalla for a 2-night Stay.

Day 7. Art Trail (BLD)

Make sure your cameras are charged today as we take in the many murals in the area. We start with a look around the rural city of Benalla, home to regional Victoria’s stunning street art and the annual Wall to Wall Festival. From Artists, Guido van Helten, Adnate, Rone, D’Vate, Sirum, Kaff-eine and many more. you’ll be left with a lasting impression of these truly significant ‘works of art’. We then make our way to St James to view the silo painted by Timothy Bowtell. Next stop is the town of Goorambat to view the work of D’Vate on the grain silo and Adnate’s work at the uniting Church. We continue our art trail to Devenish and the work of artist Cam Scale. The artwork is of both a First World War nurse and a modern-day combat medic. Fifty young men and women from the Devenish community enlisted in military service for the First World War. This year the Light Horseman was added to the last silo in Devenish.

Day 8. Benalla—Gundagai (BLD)

Gundagai is our destination for today, passing through Wangaratta, Albury and Culcairn. Visit the town called The Rock and Wagga Wagga before arriving in Gundagai for overnight.

Day 9. Gundagai—Home

Homeward bound today retracing our steps along the Hume Freeway. Once on the Central Coast you will be transferred home.
