There is so much to experience in outback Australia, although some may say there is nothing out there, it just takes one visit to gain the understanding about the essence of this wondrous country.
Experience the beauty and history of our Corner Country, an area that encompasses the towns of Packsaddle, Tibooburra, Milparinka and Cameron Corner. The northern and western boundaries of the Corner is made of the Dog Fence, the world’s longest fence at 5,614 kilometres that runs from near Dalby on Queensland’s Darling Downs to Cameron Corner and then onto the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

Cameron Corner, the point at which New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland meet. Our adventure is not just about a driving from one point to another, it is your chance to experience the outback landscape, its pastoral and indigenous history, as well as a way to connect with the efforts of the explorers that ventured into the interior during the later parts of the 1800s. Meet local station owners that call this area home by spending overnight with them and experience first hand the highs and lows of living in this remote area.

Luggage: Luggage to be packed in a soft sports bag or similar (no wheels or hard-sided bags allowed) A small backpack for inside the vehicle is recommended as this is to be stored under your seat when the vehicle is moving. Luggage to weigh no more than 17 kg backpack 5 kg.

CORNER EXPLORER ITINERARY

DAY 1. Gosford - Narromine (D)

Travel the Golden Highway today through Merriwa, Dunedoo, and Dubbo to the township of Narromine on the Macquarie River. Narromine promotes itself as the ‘Town of Champions’ because of the large number of international sports stars who have grown up in the town including sprinter Melinda Gainsford—Taylor, cricketer Glenn McGrath and footballer David Gillespie.

DAY 2. Narromine - Mt Oxley (BD)

From Narromine we travel through Trangie to Nyngan before joining the Mitchell Highway for travel into the beautiful historic town of Bourke on the Darling River. We take a town tour before heading out to Rossmore Station (Mt Oxley) for our two (2) nights accommodation with our hosts Bill & Denise.

DAY 3. Mt Oxley (BLD)

Today we explore our surrounds. With 360 degree views, Mt Oxley rises out of the perfectly flat landscape. With an abundance of wildlife, including Wedge-Tailed Eagles and Euros, who inhabit the outcrop of the mountain. Explorers Sturt and Hume Climbed Mt Oxley in search of the Inland Sea. There is a lot of Mystery surrounding Mt Oxley with two distinct lines of small craters on the top of the mountain that there is no explanation for. After our day exploring we return to relax and watch the beautiful sunset.

DAY 4. Mt Oxley - Tibooburra (BLD)

Another great day as we head across the country along the unsealed road known as the “Cut Line Road”. Following in the steps of Burke & Wills to the small settlement of Wanaaring. Continue through vast grazing land to the town of Tibooburra for a two (2) night stay with Mavis at the Granites Motel.

DAY 5. Camerons Corner (BLD)

Today we travel from Tibooburra through 450 million-year-old granite tors and flat-topped mesas to rolling red dune fields of the Simpson-Strzelecki Desert. Crossing the Sturt National Park and the Waka Claypan to Fort Grey and onto Cameron Corner and the worlds longest fence; the 5,000+ km Dog Fence which was constructed to keep roaming dingo’s of the north and west out of the pastoral lands of NSW. Stand at the Cameron Corner Survey Marker and stand in 3 states at once (NSW, QLD & SA). Take time to visit the iconic Cameron Corner store. Returning to Tibooburra through the spectacular desert country. eared.

DAY 6. Tibooburra - White Cliffs (BLD)

We make our way back to the Silver City Highway to the Outback heritage town of Milparinka. Today the town is a virtual ghost town with just the pub operating. Take time to view the beautifully restored colonial buildings, before joining the unsealed road through semi-desert and saltbush into White Cliffs, Australia’s oldest Opal mining town.

DAY 7. White Cliffs - Darling (BD)

This morning we take time to explore this unique opal town before our journey takes us down the Opal Miners Way to Wilcannia on the Darling. Two nights accommodation is in the NEW ensuite cabins at Warrawong on the Darling

DAY 8. Local Signs (BLD)

Warrawong is located on the Banks of Darling River and is a 1700 acre working farm. Wake to the sounds of the abundant bird life that calls Warrawong home. After breakfast, we take to the dirt again to Wilga & the Paroo Darling National Park. Here we will find the Paroo Overflow, the only unregulated river in the Murray-Darling Basin. We enjoy a picnic at peery Lake before returning to Warrawong in time to watch the ever-changing colours of sunsets.

DAY 9. Wilcannia - Dubbo (BD)

We begin our journey home by travelling the Barrier and Mitchell Highway’s through Cobar, Nyngan & Trangie to Dubbo for overnight.

DAY 10. Dubbo - Home (B)

Homeward bound today, and once on the Central Coast you will transfer to our minibusses for your return home.
